Linux or UNIX system running CUPS (Common UNIX Printing System)
PostScript Option for relevant MX Product (MXPKX1)
PPD for CUPS (Available from the Sharp Technical Website)
Procedure:
Configuration and installation consists of three separate tasks:
1)  Add PPD into CUPS
2)  Add printer to CUPS
3)  Configure printer options.
Notes:
This bulletin is based on SUSE Linux version 10 and MX1800N.

1.  Add the driver into CUPS.
The PPD installer file can be downloaded from the Technical Web in drivers and updates in the relevant model. The
file is in .gz form this can be unzipped by the linux/unix system.
This file will unzip to a  folder labelled sharp-1.1-mx230to700-ps.
Inside the folder you created there is a setup file run this file.

This setup file will start the PPD installation wizard.
Select the Sharp Printer Drivers v1.1 under available software.

Agree to the Software License.
At this point the system should be restarted to ensure the new PPDs are recognised by CUPS.
The PPDs are now installed into the correct location within CUPS and are available when a printer is created.

2.  Add printer to CUPS
Open a web browser and enter 
http://localhost:631/
 into the address bar. This will take you to the CUPS main web
page on the local computer. Click on Manage Printer.
Select Add Printer.
