Lot numbers of the defective ICs
Below is the lot numbers of the ICs whose coating might be thicker than usual.
The ICs from the lot numbers other than the lot numbers below do not have this
defect.

The IC manufacturer reported that the ICs from the lot numbers above might
contain defective ICs in July 2006.  We collected the ICs from above lots from the
substrate vendors as a precaution.

We confirmed that the ICs from the concerned lots are not used since October
production of the machines and the DSKs.

We replaced the inventory of SCAN IN PWB/ DSPF memory PWB at JPC in
October this year.
(DOCC PWB is not supplied as a service part.)

Actions for SCAN IN PWB / DSPF memory PWB
This defect tends to occur in a high humidity area.  It was reported only from
SRH, SRS and the Philippines.
Based on the situation of occurrence in the past, we consider it rarely occurs in
other than highly humid areas.
Please replace when the defect occurs.

We will observe the situation of occurrence, and if it were found to be an epidemic
failure, we would like to discuss the method of field action then.  We appreciate
your understanding and co-operation.

Please collect the Sim22-6 data, investigate the date of installation of the machine
and the date of occurrence and report to us when the defect occurs, so that we can
observe the defect.

Therefore, please check the lot number of the IC of DOCC PWB at the time of
installation of the machine or during the service operation, and replace the
substrate if it is from the concerned lot regardless of occurrence of the defect.  We
appreciate your understanding.
