2. Symptom

1. Incomplete contact between initial detect plate A and initial detect plate B may cause

faulty indication of “web cleaning unit is not installed” even when a web frame is
provided.

2. If a web frame has been mounted without inserting securely into the claws of fixing paper

inlet, the web frame is suspended and it may prevent contact between the web tension
shaft and end detect plate B. Under this condition, end detect of a web roller may be
disabled.

3. Description

1. To prevent faulty indication of “web cleaning unit is not installed” caused by poor contact

between initial detect plate A and initial detect plate B, initial detect plate A and initial
detect plate B were integrated into one initial detect plate BN. Then, because the
necessity to detect presence of a web frame is low, installation of the initial detect plate
BN was abolished.
Because installation of the initial detect plate BN was abolished, installation of the
second end detect plate B seen from rear side and 2 screws was abolished also.
The above results in abolishment of the initial detection function.
Because installation of the initial detect plate BN is abolished, wiring was changed as
shown in the figures below:

2-1. To prevent errors in detecting web frame and failures in end detecting of web roller,

the web frame is held down with screws.
To prevent short-circuit of the end detect plate A due to overtightening of the screws,
an end detect insulation sheet will be added onto the end detect plate A.

2-2. Furthermore, to prevent failures in end detecting of web roller, a positioning rib is

added to the web frame, avoiding suspension of the web frame upon installation.
