2. Symptom

Continuously using the heat roller after the surface has been scratched during jam
clearance of the fusing unit section will enlarge the scratch. This enlargement may cause
a crack to occur in the coating on the heat roller surface.

3. Description

We will change the thickness of the tubes (coating) on the upper and lower heat roller
surfaces from 30  to 50  so that a scratch does not occur easily. Due to this change,
paper detachability also decreases, so we will simultaneously change the rubber hardness
of the lower heat roller from 40  to 65 .
For this reason, if it becomes necessary to replace the upper or lower heat roller, you will
need to simultaneously replace both the rollers as a pair with new ones.

Temporary countermeasure: Mark the edge of the long boss side (fusing gear mounting
side) in black.

Permanent countermeasure: Add a groove to the root of the long boss side (fusing gear
mounting side).
