ABOUT THE EXPANDED MEMORY

For the expanded memory (DIMM) of the said models, only "168pin EDO DIMM" has been
given in the service manual. Therefore, detailed spec for operable memory is described
below. When expanding memory in the market, be sure to check the following memory
spec.

Note 1: When using a 2-bank product, the capacity may be only half recognised or may

not be recognised at all.

Note 2: For the DRAM type (Row x Column) supported by the said models, there are 6

types of "12x8, 10x10, 11x10, 11x11, 12x10, 12x11". A part of the 2k-refresh
products (11x9) or 4k refresh products (12x9) cannot be used. 8k refresh
products (13x9) are not usable since they are not supported.
* SPD (Serial Presence Detect): EEPROM writing information about the access
time, type, etc. of DRAM mounted on the DIMM.

For the refresh rate of DRAM above mentioned, it is not shown as a DIMM spec in most
cases, and many vendors do not disclose the DIMM spec (only usable models are
indicated). Moreover, even if DIMM has the same model name, the maker or model
number of the mounted DRAM differs depending on the lot. Therefore, it is impossible to
say definitely that the DIMM having the same model number always operates.
