Fixing F9:00 Error messages

Model Name: ARPB2

Overview:
F9:00 error is described as a “communication error between the ARPB2 and
the ICU”.  However, there are additional conditions that might cause this error
message.  These conditions are as follows:

1.  When printing a large complex graphic such as an Autocad drawing.

2.  After fitting a Flash ROM chip to an ARPB2 that has previously been
used as an Engine Flash ROM chip.

3.  When updating the ARPB2 firmware from 1.45 directly to 3.22

4.  If the PB2 Flash ROM is faulty.

5.  If additional Installed RAM is faulty.

6.  If the Copier Engine Firmware is not at the latest level.

Condition 1:
When printing a large complex graphic such as an Autocad drawing

Fix:
This problem has been fixed with new firmware (PRT 4.37, Boot 2.04)

Although, this new firmware has been designed for ARPB2A, it can be used
on existing ARPB2/PB2+ to resolve this issue.  (You can download this
firmware from ARPB2A section of the Technical Website)
However, be sure to follow the new Flash upgrade procedure that is included
with the files.

Condition 2:
After fitting a Flash ROM chip to an ARPB2 that has previously been
used as an Engine Flash ROM chip.

Fix:
Do not use Engine Flash ROM chips on an ARPB2 printer board.
When the Engine Flash ROM is written to for the first time in an Engine it is
protected.  When we try to program this Engine Flash ROM in an ARPB2, we
have no way to remove the protection. So, a data reading failure occurs and
an F9:00 error results.

Condition 3:

When updating the ARPB2 firmware from 1.45 directly to 3.22

The first data address in a v1.45 Flash ROM is different to the first data
address in a v3.22 Flash ROM.  Due to this difference, when upgrading
between these versions, an F9:00 occurs.

Fix:
You can overcome this problem by:
a)  upgrading directly from v1.45 to v4.37(AR-PB2A),
b)  upgrading from v2.21 or v2.32 to v3.22.

If you have already upgraded a Flash ROM from v1.45 to v3.22, and it is
exhibiting F9:00 errors you should replace the Flash ROM and upgrade the
replacement directly to v4.37.

Condition 4
If the PB2 Flash ROM is faulty.

Fix:
Replace the ARPB2 Flash ROM.

Condition 5:
If additional Installed RAM is faulty.

Fix:
Replace the RAM and check whether F9:00 errors still occur.

Condition 6:
If the Copier Engine Firmware is not at the latest level.

Fix:
Check the Sharp Technical Website, and confirm that that the Engine
firmware is at the latest level.
