AR-P15 (AR-PK3) System Software Installation
Procedure

Overview:

This bulletin explains how to install or re-install the system software for the AR-P15

1.
A PC running either Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000 or XP operating

Note: The PC will need to be configured so that the parallel port in the BIOS is set
to ECP. If ECP is not supported, the system software installation will be

Reminders:
Installing the system software erases all data, including the HDD (AR-PK3 only).
Check the following items before re-installing/updating:-
Configuration: Print a current set-up configuration page as all set-up parameters will
be deleted.
Archive:
Archive important print jobs from the print, hold and spool queues to
a local hard drive, including FreeForm masters (AR-PK3 only).

Job Log:
The list of jobs in the job log will be deleted. Save the current list of
jobs from the job log using Fiery Web spooler or by exporting the
information into a spreadsheet.(AR-PK3 only).

Fonts:
All fonts that the customer has installed will be deleted. Print a
current Font List to determine which additional fonts have been
downloaded (AR-PK3 only).

Webscan:

E-Mail:
Extract both User and Print address books from the Fiery E-Mail
service (AR-PK3 only).

System Software Installation Procedure:
1.
With the Windows PC and the AR651/810 both powered off, connect a short
IEEE1284 cable between the parallel port of the PC and to the AR-P15 Print
controller.
2.
Verify that the Parallel Port Mode is set to ECP mode by opening the PC Bios
or by checking the LPT1 setting from within a print driver (example shown).

3.
Insert and browse the System Software CD. Copy the ARP15 Download Tool
folder onto your local drive.

Open the ARP15 Download Tool folder.
Note:
When using Windows NT, 2000 or XP only, copy the “Porttalk.sys” driver file
into the “C:\winnt\system32” folder.

5.
Launch the Printer download application (ensure the Print Spool on the local
PC is clear of any Print jobs before opening the application).

Browse the System Software CD for the required system software file (*.dle)
to download.

There are 2 versions of system software, depending on the installed print
controller and option:-

AR-P15 (Standard)
“Disk Less” version (approx. 18MB)
AR-PK3 (HDD, Scan & E-Mail)
“Disk” version (approx. 331MB)
Note:
Before downloading the AR-P15 “Diskless” system software, ensure that the
AR-PK2 Postscript upgrade (IC Location U8-00 on the Printer Board) is
removed.

ALWAYS ENSURE THE CORRECT SYSTEM SOFTWARE FILE

Click Start

When the above message appears, switch on the AR651 / 810 printer and
click on OK within 3 seconds, to commence downloading.
