Installation under a Windows
NT 3. 51 Network
Model Name:
ARNC1D/3D
Pre-requisites:
TCP/IP protocol installed on Windows NT3.51.  Microsoft TCP/IP Printing
Service installed on Windows NT3.51.  IP address assigned to AR-NC1D/AR-
NC3D Network Card. Microsoft Windows NT3.51 Disks (If TCP/IP Printing is
not already installed). NT3.51Postscript PPD file (Available from the Sharp
Technical Web Site).
Note:
As there are no specific NT3.51 Sharp Printer Drivers available for the
AR250/280/285/286/335/336/405/505 products, a postscript PPD file has
been made available so that printing can be performed under Windows
NT3.51.
It should be noted however that this PPD Printer Driver only offers a limited
functionality in an NT3.51 Sever / Workstation environment.
The Features that are available include:
 Input Tray Selection
 Resolution
 Single / Double Sided Printing
 Scaling
 Mirror Image
 Negative Image
** There is no output tray selection available from within the printer driver. A
default output tray setting is however available from within the AR-PB2/+
printer menu system. This setting will allow print jobs to be directed to a
designated tray, however all print jobs will go to this tray unless this setting is
again adjusted. Stapling is not possible even if an FN1 or FN2 finisher is
installed.
Note:
If the workstations sending the print jobs across the network to the NT3.51
Server are Windows 3.1/3.11/95/98 or NT4 systems, the appropriate printer
drivers can be installed on these workstations. This will mean that the queue
on the NT3.51 server is used only as a route to the printer and the user will
then receive all the usual features previously encountered from the Sharp
specific printer drivers (Including Output Tray and Stapling selection).

7. Now that the Printer Driver has been installed we need to setup the printer port.
Click the down arrow next to the Print To selection and scroll down to port required. If the
ARPB2/+ is to be connected directly to the back of the NT server or workstation using a parallel
cable, select an appropriate LPT Port.
If a network card is installed and you want to print to the copier across a network, scroll down to
Other at the bottom of the Print To list.
8.
Click Other and the following list of available ports will appear.  As with a Windows NT4
installation we now need to select an LPR Port.
If the LPR Port is not listed, the TCP/IP Printing Service is not installed.  To install the TCP/IP
Printing Service, go to the Control Panel/Network settings.
Click Add Software from within Control Panel/Networks and select the TCP/IP Protocol and
related components
as seen below.  If the TCP/IP protocol had not already been installed, the
protocol will require configuring on the server.  If this service has to be installed, the Windows
NT3.51 Disks will be required, and the file server will require rebooting.
