AS/400 LAN Attached Printer Setup
Model Name:
ARNC3D  Network Board
Prerequisites:
AS/400 Version 3 Release 7 and above, Ethernet capability on AS/400,
TCP/IP running on AS/400, TCP/IP running on ARNC3D, MAP or Telnet
utility.
Note: Using the PJL drivers removes the limitations such as page range
 
printing, no default paper size, etc.  of the ASCII Attached printer.
Procedure:
1. To create the device description for the copier, type the command
 
CRTDEVPRT (Create Device description Printer) on any command line
 
and press the F4 function key.  The following display is shown:
From the screen above, enter the following information:
2.  Enter the Device description name.  This would be any name for your
printer.
3.  For Device class enter  *LAN.
4.  In the Device type field enter 3812.
5. For the model, enter 1.

6.  For the LAN attachment parameter enter  *IP.
Press Enter to continue
7.  In this screen, For Enter the port number, for the Sharp copier, enter 9100.
8.  For Online at IPL enter *YES
9.  For the Font identifier, enter 11 or another font ID used as the default font.
10.  For Form feed enter *AUTOCUT to specify a page printer.
11.  For the remaining fields, accept the default values and press the Enter key to continue.

12. For the Printer error message parameter, enter *INQ.
Press the Page Down key to continue
13.  For the Activation timer parameter, enter *NOMAX.
14.  In the Inactivity timer field, enter SEC15; this is the amount of time the writer keeps a lock on the
printer.
15.  For the Host print transform field, enter *YES to use the transform function to convert EBCIC to
ASCII.
16.  For the remaining values accept the defaults and press Enter to continue.
