Please look at the following summary of how to prevent POD1_N misfeeds.
3. Symptom
1.
In certain cases POD1_N misfeeds can occur when the upper fuser separator pawl
breaks and catches the paper.
2. 
POD1_N misfeeds can also occur if the paper has an upward curl on the lead edge
especially when in duplex mode.  The misfeeds occur if the drum separator pawl is
chipped or broken because there has been an increased pressure from pawl to
drum.
4. Description            1-1.
To prevent the upper fuser from being broken the design of the separator pawl has
been changed.
The upper fuser pawls in the maintenance kit AR-700KC have been changed.
The maintenance kits containing the new separator pawls are indicated by an ‘A’ to
the right of the lot number.
The blue circle sticker attached at the upper right of the lot number of the
maintenance kit AR700KC will be discontinued.
5. Action
Starting with October 2004 production.
Measures against misfeeding at POD1_N, due to breaking/chipping
of the upper fuser pawls and the drum pick off pawls.

The shape of the in sulate plate has been changed to prevent upper separator
pawl of the fuser unit from being broken.
Action from July 2004 production.

2-1 
To improve the transport of curled paper the material of the drum separator pawl
has been changed to a stronger type, at the same time the shape of the pawl has
been changed and a reinforcement sheet has been added. Please refer to the
procedure on how to attach the separator pawl and sheet.
The drum separator pawls in the maintenance kit AR620KA have been changed
and the reinforcement have been added to the kit.
The letter ‘A’ on the right of the lot number indicates the maintenance kits
containing the new pawls and sheets.
The kit will be replaced starting with October 2004 production.
Action from November 2004 production.

Procedure on how to attach the separator pawl and sheet of the process unit.
1.  Remove the MC unit and take out the process unit.
2.  Detach the plastic E rings and remove the separator pawl (4 locations).
3.  Insert the reinforcement sheet into the separator pawl holder. Insert the bosses of
the holder into the holes of the sheet.
4.  After inserting the reinforcement sheet into the holder, attach the new separator pawl
(green).
5. 
Replace all of the four separator pawls with the new type separator pawl, along with
the reinforcement sheets.
