 july 2008 has been found to 

lead to CH-01 trouble, and image problems. As a result the developer setup procedure has 
been modified.  

 
 
1. General: 

If after installing a new developer mix the machine is powered on with the front door closed, 
and toner bottle in place, toner will be supplied to the developer mix PRIOR to dev reference 
being set (sim 25-02). 
Thereby resulting in a failure to setup of the toner density reference control level at the correct 

point. As a result we have modified the setup procedure of the toner density reference control 
level. (See below). 

 
2. Description: 

We have modified the procedure described below. This is the setup of the toner density 
reference control level in ‘unpacking and installation’ instructions, Service Manual p.1-7. 

 
 

2) Insert the power plug into the power outlet. 
3) With the front door open, turn on the power switch of the main unit, and then enter the 

SIM 25-2 mode. 

 

4) Close the front  door. 
5) Press START key to execute the simulation. Toner is stirred for 3 minutes, and sampling 

of the toner density control sensor value is repeated 16 times. The average level of the 
sensor detection level is set (stored) as the reference toner density control value.
