1. Model Name:

2. Description:
Document skews when fed from DSPF (AR-EF1)
Using test print 71 produced using SIM 64-1, ensure that the skew is present on both
sides of a 2 sided copy. If the skew is only present on the ‘face down’ side fed through the
DSPF then this skew is caused by misalignment of the DSPF, which can be corrected by
carrying out the Scanner unit distortion adjustment described in the service manual,
section 9-3. Misalignment will produce a page which has two sides of the image skewed
and two sides not skewed. A brief version of this adjustment is shown below

Each division on the cam is equal to 0.5mm
Should it be necessary, a further adjustment for misalignment can be carried out by re-
aligning the diagonal adjustment of the DSPF, as described in the service manual, section
9-6. A brief version of this adjustment is shown below.

removed at this point.)

4.
Remove the two hinge stop plates from each hinge and raise the DSPF.

7.
Remove the 4 screws securing the hinge to the paper feed unit.

8.
Lower the paper feed unit from the cabinet to allow enough clearance behind the
SPF paper guide to remove it from the paper feed unit.
9.
Remove the existing PS support roller by removing the 2 screws and plate springs
securing the PS support roller shaft to the paper guide and replace the PS support
roller with the modified version.

10.
Reassemble in the reverse order and check skew, realigning as necessary.
Replacement of the PS support roller is all that should be necessary to correct the
skew. However, in extreme circumstances it may be necessary to also replace the
SPF paper guide with a modified version. If this becomes necessary it will be
necessary to attach a mylar sheet to the paper guide.
