2. Description:
F1- 87 Error message is generated, 1) intermittently during operation or 2) at power on.
The error message relates to trouble with the staple rotation motor, which can be checked
using SIM3-3.
It is firstly important to check that the staple unit is free to rotate as described in 2) below.
1 ) Intermittent Operation
This problem can be caused by an intermittent rotation sensor – STTHP1 or STTHP2
                                                 
                   
Use simulation 3-2 to check sensor operation and replace the defective sensor.
2) When Powered On
When the power is turned on F1-87 is indicated. This problem is usually caused by a
physical obstruction restricting the rotation of the staple unit.
If the staple unit is moved by hand or the finisher receives a physical shock during
transportation or installation, the ST fixing plate can be dislocated from it’s correct position
as shown in fig.1 and fig. 2 on page 2.
The corrective action is to reposition the ST fixing plate behind the Moving Paper Guide by
hand as shown in fig.3. on page 2. This will allow the staple unit to return to it’s correct
home position and therefore cause no obstruction to rotation.
