AR-350/450 BASIC PROCESS SECTION 5-7
(7) TONER CONCENTRATION CORRECTION
The toner concentration control reference level (data) is corrected to
maintain the proper toner concentration for a change in developing
capacity (a change in developer and toner characteristics (charging))
caused by aging of developer and an error in the toner concentration
sensor.
(Maintenance of proper concentration print and prevention against
background copy caused by over-toner and toner dispersion)
(8) TRANSFER ROLLER CLEANING
The developing positive bias is applied to the OPC drum at the timing
shown below so that remaining toner on the transfer roller is attracted
again to the OPC drum, performing cleaning.
1) When the power is turned on:
* No cleaning during the warm up after canceled diagnostic
* However, the cleaning voltage is not applied during warm up after
completion of SIM.
2) After completion of a print job
3) After printing 100 pages (in one job)

3. Toner recycle system
This machine employs the toner recycle system to cut the running costs.
The operations of the toner recycle system are as follows:
Toner recycle movie
1) Collects remaining toner (hereinafter referred to as waste toner) on
the OPC drum with the cleaner blade.
2) Waste toner is transported through the transport pipe.
3) Waste toner is mixed in the toner cartridge again.
4) When there is a large amount of toner in the cartridge, waste toner is
simply mixed and stirred in the cartridge.
5) When there is a small amount of toner in the cartridge, the buffer
plate in the cartridge prevents waste toner from being mixed beyond
a certain ratio.
Note:  If the ratio of waste toner becomes too great, images will be badly
affected as well as developer in the developing unit.
When near empty or empty is displayed, do not shake the toner
cartridge.
By the way, near empty and empty conditions are stored in the
CRUM-IC in the toner cartridge.
4. Toner remaining quantity
A. Toner remaining quantity display
The toner remaining quantity display is calculated by the accumulated
rotating time of the toner motor (TM). Since, however, there is a
considerable error in the accumulated rotating time of the toner motor,
the status displays of "Toner near end" and "Toner end" which are directly
related to replacement of consumable parts are detected by the toner
quantity sensor.
"Toner near end" and "Toner end" statuses are stored in the CRUM-IC
and cannot be cleared.
* The toner supply time clear is set with SIM 24-11. This is not to clear
the counter accumulated in the toner cartridge (CRUM-IC) but to
clear the value read by the machine. It is used when the toner
remaining quantity display is erroneous.
B. Trouble code "F2-02" detection
When the toner supply time is 2,500 sec or less, if toner empty is
detected, "F2-02" is displayed to indicate a toner supply abnormality.

AR-350/450 BASIC LASER SCAN UNIT SECTION (LSU) 6-1
[6] LASER SCAN UNIT SECTION (LSU)
1. Internal structure of LSU
*
The LSU must not be disassembled in the market.
2. Polygon motor
In the conventional models, the polygon motor RPM is rather high and it
takes a considerable time to reach the stable RPM. Therefore, the
polygon motor is kept rotating during the standby state.
In this model, however, the number of mirrors is increased to decrease
the polygon motor RPM. As a result, the polygon motor RPM becomes
stable when paper is transported to the process section in the first print.
This provides superiority in silence and improves the reliability of the unit.

AR-350/450 DATA FLOW 7-2
Setting for printing job is as follows.
<Setting that concerns to the printing job execution. >
1) Setting of number of sheets
2) Setting that offset of department unit is exist or not.
3) Setting of printing job header page printing.
4) Setting of long document process.
5) Setting of prohibition of precede printing.
6) When it sets the duplex printing, it can set the function that can
always select printing on the front page for specified manuscript
image(for example, cover or interleave paper ) and that does not
print to the back page.
<Setting that concerns each printing job >
1) Setting of output point.
2) Setting of booklet printing
3) Setting of single/ duplex printing
4) Stapling setting
5) Setting of printing header page by department unit or interleaf by
department unit
It can do setting for printing job by department unit or change the setting
at the break of one number of printings.
A. Printing Job Queue
1) Printing priority of the printing job can be selected by user.
Default of This machine is 1 copy, 2 list printing, 3 printer, 4 FAX.
2) User can change printing job order registered with the printing job
queue.
3) User can delete/ stop/ restart printing job registered with the printing
job queue.
4) User can change the maximum of printing job that each application
can register with the printing job queue.
5) The maximum of printing job that can register with the printing job is
restricted by loaded memory, but user can increase restriction by
increasing memory.
B. Registration order of printing job with the printing
job queue.
Application task registers printing job with the printing job queue by the
following order.
1) Get the memory from XXX memory area and make printing job
control block (PJCB).
2) Write the necessary item to the field except JOB ID.
3) Register it by pjmn_queAdd ( PJCB's address ) .
*
In pjmn_queAdd (), it gets the printing job queue access semaphore.
In accordance with job type set to the PJCB's JOB TYPE field and
with priority of printing job set to the printing job precedence setting
table, it inserts PJCB into a chain of printing job queue and it gives
the notice to printing schedule task at the same time. It also gets
printing ID from JOB ID consecutive variable controlled exclusively
by printing job queue access semaphore.
C. Print job scheduling
1) After printing scheduling task publishes printing permission, if
application task can't spool the next page within the setting time, it
does re-scheduling of printing job.
2) When a printing job prints setting number of copies or, when setting
time has passed since printing begins, printing scheduling task does
re-scheduling of printing job. However, if all printing data is finished
to spool and if it knows to finish the printing within setting time, it
doesn't do re-schedule.
3) When it does re-schedule, if it is same output point as printing job
during printing, setting that doesn't start to print can be done. _ If
output point is Auto, it is decided at the time of first printing._
4) If it reaches queuing MAX to the print task, it stops the publishing of
printing permission for atime.
5) If it happens to run out of paper, printing scheduling task stops
publishing of printing permission to the print task, and does re-
scheduling immediately.
6) If jam happens, after engine and option stop,_ After all fed paper
output _ , it shows clear the queue to the print task , and completes
the output, or starts to publish printing permission from the page that
has not completed to the staple tray.
7) When it finishes one number of copies, tells it to the application task
and gives a chance to change a printing job property.
D. Mechanism that make it insert other printing job by
stopping printing job by force.
Application task that tries to insert sets the prohibition of change of
priority to the printing job, register to the top of printing job queue, and
publishes demand for the momentary stop of printing job for the other
printing applications.
Application task that receives the demand for momentary stop of printing
job, if printer task is printing, it publishes to the demand of momentary
stop for the print task.
Task that received the demand for momentary stop publishes the
demand to stop for the engine.
As the result, re-scheduling happens, insert printing can realize.
E. The element related to the decision of JOB order
a. Basic process
Basically, it processes from the order that job is registered
b. Whether paper exists, or not.
In the paper less condition on the way of job, forbid passing.
If it is before starting job, (If it never output) permit to pass.
c. Output tray condition
If out tray trouble happens on the way of job, forbid passing.
If it is before starting job, (If it never output) permit to pass.
d. Confidential printing
Confidential printing forbids outputting till ID code of confidential BOX is
input, so permits to pass.
F. The element related to output order at paper unit
during job
a. Duplex process
b. Editing process (Nup /Booklet)
Booklet delivers to Printing Task in order such as first page and final
page, second page and previous final page.
Nup delivers one output at N number of sheets, so it delivers N sheets to
Printing Task. But if it completes at Printing Task, it delivers N sheets on
one copy.
c. Sort group process
When it prints plural page, it usually does sort process.
When it does group process, it processes by repeating at every page.
(Job that it is only one paper, it does group process.)
d. Recovery process
It starts to process from ID next image ID that has already finished
outputting by recovery instruction again.
If it is group process, it starts from the next number of copies that has
already finished outputting.
