1. Line Thickness
This function is used to adjust the line thickness of the vector graphics for printing.
Note) Normally, there is no need to change the line thickness because it is defined by the
printer core.
However, this function would be useful for CAD or other particular purposes where
adjusting the line thickness is required.
The list below shows the relationship between the setting value and the enlargement ratio
of line thickness.
For example, when the Line Thickness is set to “4”, the thickness of the printed line will be
0.95 times as thick as the standard thickness defined by the printer core. When the
setting is 9, the result will be 1.5 times as thick as the standard thickness, and so forth. It
should be noted that each line will be printed as “1 dot line” when it is set to 0.

2. Extra Print Mode
*This function is used to improve the printing efficiency for continuously sent jobs in the
same format when printing out documents from a user application.
Note) When outputting normal office documents, the print job contains multiple pages,
therefore there is no need to set this function.
With the printout system on current Tiger series, the engine does not start processing the
next print job until it completely outputs the pages for the current print job. In a printing
environment where most of the print jobs contain a single page, this system decreases
the printing efficiency because it can cause an increased number of pauses between print
jobs.
*This function is used to reduce the waiting time between print jobs to increase printing
efficiency by recognizing some jobs as a series of print jobs.
*The print job name to which this mode is applied is changed to [CONTINUOUS PRINT]
to be displayed on the status screen.
*Operation specifications
Factory Default setting: OFF (MFP: The check box is not checked/ Printer: OFF)

(2) Press [CONDITION SETTINGS] on the printer mode screen to access the condition
settings screen for the printer.
(3) Press [DEFAULT SETTINGS] on the condition settings screen to access the default
settings screen.
(4) Check the [EXTRA PRINT MODE] check box on the second page of the default
settings screen.
*Operation via printer engine
(1) Press [Menu], select [SET CONDITION SETTINGS], and then press [OK].
(2) Press [DEFAULT SETTINGS], and then [OK].
(3) Select [EXTRA PRINT MODE] by pressing the [UP]/[DOWN] key, and then press [OK].
(4) Press the [UP]/[DOWN] key to select ON, and then press [OK].
*The following conditions must be met to start the extra print mode.

(2) In duplex mode, the document must end with an odd numbered page.
*Limitations
(1) Under any of the following conditions the EXTRA PRINT MODE does not work.
The EXTRA PRINT MODE does not work with the auditing mode on.
The EXTRA PRINT MODE does not work when 2+ copies are set via the printer driver.

(2) The following functions will be overridden in the EXTRA PRINT MODE.
When the NJR, which functions to inform the user of job completion, is on, job completion
information is not delivered in the EXTRA PRINT MODE.
(3) The EXTRA PRINT MODE cannot be used with any of following functions. (Setting made
via printer driver)
Sample print, print hold, confidential print, pamphlet, staple, punch, cover mode,
transparency page insertion
(4) In any of the following cases, the EXTRA PRINT MODE will go OFF. (Setting made via
printer driver)
1) Changing the paper type
2) Switching the printing mode between duplex and simplex
3) Changing the binding orientation or page orientation in duplex mode
4) Changing the exit tray
5) Changing the setting of any of the following functions; toner save mode, smoothing, 1-bit
half tone mode, binding position, margin shift
3.Disabling of bypass printing.
*This function is used to disable the engine to skip the job suspended during printing.
*“Disabling of bypass printing” is valid in any of the following situations.
(1) Paper out
(2) Paper full detection
(3) Staple compiler full
(4) Staples out
(5) Disabling of paper feeding from paper drawer
(6) Punch scrap collecting container full
*This function is used to disable bypass printing on the engine available for job reservation,
which allows the next available job to skip the current job temporarily being stopped due
to paper out or other reasons.
*Operation via MFP operation panel
(1) Press [CUSTOM SETTINGS] to access the custom settings screen.
(2) Press [KEY OPERATOR PROGRAMS] to access the key operator programs menu
screen.
(3) Press [OPERATION SETTINGS] to access the operation settings menu screen.
(4) Check the [DISABLING OF BYPASS PRINTING] check box.

(4) Press the [UP]/[DOWN] key to select ON, and then press [OK].
4. Changed the INITIAL RESOLUTION SETTING screen < Operation settings < the Image
send settings in Key operator programs
*Added a numeric resolution level displayed next to the resolution key such as
[STANDARD], [FINE] and so forth in the initial resolution setting screen < Operation
settings < Image send settings.
*In the case of “fax only”, the current screen remains as it is.
5. Changed the INITIAL FILE FORMAT SETTING screen < Scan to E-mail initial status
settings < Image send settings in Key operator programs (For network scan)
*Added the [ONE PAGE PER FILE] check box into the INITIAL FILE FORMAT
SETTING screen > Image send initial status settings.
6. Beep sound setting
*In the current model, various beep sound settings are installed randomly; therefore
the user cannot easily find the setting screen he/she wants.  As a solution to this
ARE370
Sharp Electronics (UK) Ltd., Technical Services Group
problem, beep sound settings were moved to the appropriate screens for simple
operation.
*The BEEP SETTING menu < OPERATION SETTINGS < KEY OPERATOR
PROGRAMS contains KEYS TOUCH SOUND, SCAN COMPLETE SOUND, FAX
RECEIVE SOUND and FAX COMMUNICATION ERROR SOUND.
*Since the scan complete sound beeps in fax or scanner mode, it was moved to
OPERATION SETTINGS < IMAGE SEND SETTING < KEY OPERATOR
PROGRAMS.
*Since the FAX RECEIVE SOUND and FAX COMMUNICATION ERROR SOUND
beep in fax mode, these keys were moved to SPEAKER VOLUME SETTINGS < FAX
DEFAULT SETTINGS > IMAGE SEND SETTING < KEY OPERATOR PROGRAMS.
*As a result, the BEEP SETTING menu < OPERATION SETTINGS < KEY
OPERATOR PROGRAMS contains only KEY TOUCH SOUND which is switched
between ON and OFF.  So the KEY TOUCH SOUND key was moved one level higher
instead of BEEP SOUND.
7. 180-Degree image rotation with custom-size paper
*This function is used to implement 180-degree image rotation printing with custom-
size paper in any emulation mode, (SPDL2)/PCL5e(SPDL)/PS2. Note that the user
may get unexpected results in PCL5e(SPDL) mode because it can rotate the image up
to the maximum print area.
9.Changed the process when exceeding staple capacity for saddle stitching
*The following is the process the engine goes through when exceeding staple capacity
(10 pages) for saddle stitching is changed.
Before change
After change
1. Scan original.
2. Start printing for 1
st
 set (Pages are stopped
at staple compiler.)
3. When 10 pages are held at the compiler,
the engine will stop.
4. User selects whether or not he/she wants
the job to continue after removing the
pages from the compiler.
saddle stitching.
1. Scan original.
2. User selects whether or not he/she wants
the job to continue after the engine scans
40 pages of the original.
