2. General

Depending on the paper type such as paper which generates a lot of paper dust, the
upper heat roller may be marked with tiny scratches and toner may adhere to the
scratched parts, resulting in toner staining of the copy paper.

For the machines where toner adheres to the upper heat roller, the upper heat roller whose
coating agent has been changed from PTEE to PFA to improve peelability of paper dust and
toner is newly supplied as a service part.
3. Cause
Normally, a small amount of toner which was not fixed to the paper and was attached on the
upper heat roller adheres to the next paper or the lower heat roller. Toner does not get stuck
to the upper heat roller.
However, depending on the component contained in the paper, the coating on the upper heat
roller may be marked with small scratches. It is presumed that adhesion of toner to the
scratched parts results in this phenomenon.
We think that when using paper which generates excessive paper dust, fusing of toner to the
paper decreases and toner is more likley to stick to the upper heat roller.
4. Note
As mentioned above, adhesion of toner to the upper heat roller is mainly caused by paper
which generates a lot of paper dust; toner is not sufficiently fixed to the paper.
Therefore, advise end users to use a better quality paper.

When replacing with the new upper heat roller although the paper which is easy to generate
paper dust (paper with lower toner fixability) is still used, the back of paper may be stained
since toner which was not fixed to the paper adheres to the lower heat roller through the
upper heat roller.
