   Symptom: 
In certain environmental conditions (low temperature and humidity), the following 
symptoms may be experienced:- 
 
1. Black streaks may appear on the copy image (feed direction) 
 
 
 
 
2. White streaks may appear (Front to Rear), especially within solid black areas. 
 
 
 
3. Voids may appear on the copy image (in all colours) due to an “LED lock up”. 
 
 
Description: 
The following changes have been made to the Black Toner Cartridge:- 
 
1.  The removal of the secondary doctor blade from the Black Toner Cartridge – the 
electrical charge on the toner is reduced (less toner adhesion). 
 
 
 
 
    Note: 
If the symptom occurs on previous production toner cartridges, remove the 
Second blade from the cartridge by following the procedure within this

2. The Toner Cartridge packaging has been changed so that the protection material does not contact directly 
    with the DV roller. 
 
3. Of the 3 metal screws fixing the DC-PLT-U plate onto the toner cartridge, the front screw has changed to 
    a plastic one (All Toner Cartridges). 
 
 
Action:  
From the middle of January 2004 production.  
 
 
How to Identify The New Type Toner Cartridge 
 
As indicated below, a blue/yellow circle with a black dot label has been added to the long and short lateral 
faces of the exterior packaging (2 circles for each box/package).  
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
The identification label on the Aluminium Bag and Toner Cartridge will also display the production date:- 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Procedure to Remove the Secondary Blade 
 
1. Unfasten 2 black screws to remove DC-COV. (Figure1)

2. Unfasten 2 screws (M3*8) on both sides, and then unfasten 5 screws (M3*6). (Figure 2) 
 
 
 
3. By removing DC-PLT-U, the 2nd Blade will be unfixed and can be removed. 
 
 
 
 
4. Put back the DC-PLT-U to the original location, and then fasten the screws (M3*6) in order of number 
    (1 to 5) – starting from the left. 
 
    Note:- Fastening screw torque=0.4±0.02N   m 
 
    At this point, make sure that the bosses on the plate are properly through the holes of DC-PLT-U. 
 
 
 
 
 
5. Fasten the 2 screws (M3*8) on both sides. 
 
    Note: Fastening screw torque=0.7±0.02N   m 
 
 
6. Hook the 4 cover pawls of the DC-COV, and then fasten it with 2 black screws.
