B. Outline of operations in each operation mode
(1) Color mode
a. The original images are read.
Color separation is made into R, G, and B.
The contrast of light is converted into electric signals.
b. Input process (Image process 1)
Image correction is made. 
c. Color conversion, area separation, black generation, color
correction, half tone process, filter process (image process 2)
Area separation, color correction, half tone process, and filter
process are performed. 
RGB image data are converted into YMC image data.
K image data are formed from RGB image data.
d. Video data generation (Image process 3)
YMC image data are converted into video data.
e. Latent electrostatic images are formed (exposed) on the OPC
drum.
The OPC drum is exposed with laser beams.
f. Development
The latent electrostatic images are formed into visible images by
toner.
g. Transfer
Toner images are transferred onto paper.
h. Fusing
Toner on the paper is fused.
(2) Monochrome mode
a. The original images are read. 
Color separation is made into R, G, and B. 
The contrast of light is converted into electric signals. 
b. Input process (Image process 1)
Image correction is made. 
c. Color conversion, area separation, black generation, color
correction, half tone process, filter process (image process 2)
Area separation, color correction, half tone process, and filter
process are performed. 
RGB image data are converted into M image data. 
M image data are used as K image data. 
d. Video data generation (Image process 3)
K image data are converted into video data.
e. Latent electrostatic images are formed (exposed) on the OPC
drum.
The OPC drum is exposed with laser beams. 
f. Development
The latent electrostatic images are formed into visible images by
toner. 
g. Transfer
Toner images are transferred onto paper. 
h. Fusing
Toner on the paper is fused.

C. Communication line between units
The PWB units and the units are connected with serial data lines with
the MAIN PCU PWB as the center. The PCU MAIN PWB obtains
status information from the units through these lines, and sends com-
mands to the units based on the status information to control the
loads of the units. 
The serial data line between the MAIN PCU PWB and the ICU MAIN
PWB is used to exchange information for arranging the engine opera-
tion with the output timing of image data.
