1. Change carried out in the assembly contractor of the toner hopper and

developing unit.

2.General:

A change has been carried out in the assembly contractor of the toner hopper and the
developing unit. This action was carried out in accordance with the Chinese (SOCC)
production of the models listed above. In accordance with the action described above, a
change has also been carried out in the part code.

3.Action:

From April 1999 production.

2. Measure carried out to protect the main switch harness.

AR280/285/335/250/286/336

2.General:

There was a possibility of the main switch harness being obstructed by the edge section of
the press portion of the frame. As a measure to alleviate this problem, the addition of a
protect sheet has been carried out to the edge section.

3. Measure to improve the alignment performance of the waste toner transport

gear.

1.Model Name:

AR280/285/335/405

2.General:

1. There was a possibility of damage occurring to the waste toner transport screw shaft
due to the excessively strong alignment pressure of the waste toner transport gear.
Therefore a change has been carried out in the shape of the waste toner transport gear as
a means of diminishing the alignment pressure of the gear. In accordance with the change
that was carried out in the shape of the gear, a change has also been carried out in the part
code of the main drive unit. It is important to note that the action described above has been
carried out for the model AR405, which is characterized by a high copy speed.
The same change, however, has been carried out in other models which use the same
parts.

2. The addition of the following parts has been carried out as a measure to alleviate a
problem of vibration noise in the waste toner unit. (This action has been carried out for
model AR405 only.)

4. Measure to diminish abnormal noise which occurs in the paper delivery

reversion No. 2 bin unit.

2.General:

There was a loud noise in the paper delivery reversion No. 1 bin unit caused by the gate
coming in contact with the paper guide. As a measure to alleviate this problem, the action
described below has been carried out.

3.Cause:

The noise caused by the contact between the gate and the paper guide was increased due
to the fact that the roller and other parts were no longer present in the paper delivery
reversion No. 2 bin unit.

4.Description:

The attachment of a noise reduction sheet has been carried out to the paper delivery paper
guide.
