The AR-235 / AR-275 has an Auditor interface (CN136) located on the MCU PWB, on to
which it is possible to connect certain types of third-party external Auditing equipment. It is
necessary, however, to upgrade the machine’s firmware to incorporate the Vendor Control
program before the interface can be used.

To activate the Vendor Control function the following steps must be taken:

1.  Download the firmware containing the coin vendor program.

2.  Perform ‘All Area Download’ as normal. Using SIM 22-05, verify that the MCU

firmware level is 05.01 or higher.

3.  Enable external auditor function by setting value ‘1’ in to SIM 26-03.

If the above sequence is performed correctly, the LCD screen should display the message
‘Under vendor control’ when the copier is re-started. This message will clear and copying
will be possible only when the external auditing device completes the interface’s ‘enable
loop’.

Please note that the configuration of the external auditor connector (CN136) differs slightly
from that of other models, and so it is important to ensure that the correct cable /
connections are used. Refer to the following signal list for details :

During duplex copy mode, the interface will issue 2 billing pulses for each duplex copy,
irrespective of the size of the paper used (e.g. an A4 duplex copy will generate 2 billing
pulses, and an A3 duplex copy will also generate 2 billing pulses). In order for the external
auditing device to detect the selected paper size, the paper size outputs on pins 1 to 4
must also be used. The size detection matrix is as follows:

Third party auditing devices should conform to the following:

1.  The auditor interface should be optically isolated from the copier.
2.  The external auditing device should be “Power Supply Unit” independent.
3.  The external auditing device’s Power Supply Unit should be a plug-top adapter, not an

internal supply.

4.  The external auditing device’s plug-top adapter should have a reinforced insulation

barrier.

5.  The external auditing device must ‘hold’ a CE Mark.
