SYMPTOM The 8A fuse blows for no apparent reason.
CAUSE
See below.
ACTION
Ensure that the following checks are made.
1. The open button assembly should be checked for excess flash around the rear
edges. Any flash present should be removed to ensure smooth operation.
2. The open lever should be checked for correct fitting and alignment. The operation
should be smooth and free. The holding tab should allow free movement while
preventing the assembly from being dislodged.

3. The latch hook assembly should be aligned to allow positive actuation of the latch
switches. Check for damage or deformaty, positive action when the button is

4. Ensure that the fuse is fitted correctly in its holder. Check that the contact points
are not splayed causing a loose fit.
5. Check the magnetron and capacitor for signs of discharge/arcing and that the high
voltage wiring is tightly fitted.
6. Check that the short protector and HV rectifier for signs of arcing and that there is
a sufficient air gap between the assembly and the base/back plate. Isolation is via
the protective plate form the fan duct assembly.

7. All the wiring should be checked for damage, arcing or shorts. Any defective
components should be changed accordingly.
