1. Ensure that the Terminal network socket at the back of the machine is connected to
either a hub or an active network or has an RJ45 loopback connector is fitted
2. Click Start – Control Panel – ‘Network and Internet connection’s – then from the ‘or pick a
control panel icon’ area select ‘Network Connections’.
3. Within ‘Network Connections’ – ‘LAN or High-speed Internet’ – right click the ‘Local Area
Connection’ icon using the mouse or press ALT + F10 on the keyboard. From the drop
down list select Properties.

4. Highlight ‘Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)’ and select Properties. As shown above.
5. Select ‘Use the following IP address’ and then enter the required IP address and Subnet
mask for your system and click ‘OK’
6. Select Close.
Note: What you will need :-
Í Laptop with Network capability via TCP/IP
Or
Í USB CDRom Drive.
Í Network Loopback connector or Hub.

1. Select Start - 'My Computer' icon.
2. Within 'My Computer' select 'View system information' from the 'System Tasks' section.
3. Select ‘Computer Name’ then select ‘Change’.
4. From the ‘Computer Name Changes’ screen enter the required computer name then click
OK. As shown above.

5. Start ‘Windows Explorer’ from Start – All Programs – Accessories – Windows explorer.
6. Right click the local disk C: and choose ‘Sharing and Security’.
7. Click the line 'If you understand the risk but still want to share the root drive click here'
8. Within the 'Network sharing and Security' Click the line 'If you understand the risk but still
want to share the root drive click here'.
9. Select 'Just enable file sharing'
10. Within the ‘Network sharing and security’ section tick the ‘Share this folder on the
network’ box and 'Allow network users to change my files'. Change the Share name to
be C as shown above.
