For best performance and features it is recommended to update the RAM to 256MB.

When upgrading obtain a single piece 256MB RAM from Sharp and fit into UP-X300.

Remove existing UP-X300 128MB RAM and replace with 256MB

(The above removed 128MB memory should be added to your next UP-X300)

It is highly recommended that Memory supplied by Sharp be used or tested RAM such as Samsung and
Kingstone Memory.

Do Not mix different RAM type, RAM manufacturers may change specification of Chips this could result in
performance issues.

Do Not use Twinmos Memory (this has a known performance problem when the UPX300 is busy, which
could result in a memory error)

Use the recommended latest application install version together with the correct OS. (Please refer to Sharp
Tech WEB for latest version)

July 2007 Use version 1.5.0.8 with OS Version 1.07.

Only use new or trusted program as basis for installations, please do not use the Sharp demo data as this
contains many features that would not be used, and this could affect performance.

Configure the UP-X300 to re-boot automatically after the EOD has been carried out.
(Go to CE desktop c:\windows\X300Mainwindow.ini set ManualEODReboot=1 see FAQ 1.11)

For Version 1.6.0.10 or below do not select “Daylight saving time” when performing regional settings
(please refer to separate issued Tech Bulletin for full details)

Please test your customers program to ensure that there is an escape route from all your screens to another
screen
(Incorrect settings may cause E/User to power off without shutdown, this could result in data problems, see
FAQ 1.22 and 4.15

Please fit Power Switch Cover to prevent the E/User switching off the UP-X300 in error. (please refer to
separate issued Tech Bulletin for full details)

Install UPS/Mains Conditioner to be connected to the Master Terminal, if there are known mains problems
on the site it is recommended that each terminal be connected to a UPS/Mains Conditioner

For best performance it is recommended that a known good access point be used.
For example if you have previously installed X300/200 with AP and have had complete success this AP could
be used. Sharp have tested the Netgear Rangemax Wireless AP with successful results
Sharp have also tested the Netgear WG602 on less demanding sites with successful results

Please configure your Wireless AP and X200 as documented in the “Wireless Configuration Help Guide”
