CHANGE TO THE BIOS ROM
[Event report]
1. Model name:
ER-A850/A880
2. General:
A possibility has been identified, that a chip set problem could exist, the refresh stops
temporarily allowing the cache of the interrupt vector table area of the main memory, which
locks up the machine when executing a program. This is a countermeasure against it.
3. Description:
The machine locks up when starting after switching on and corrupts the data on the RAM disk.
(The frequency is once a week approximately.)
4. Cause:
Permitting to cache the interrupt vector table area of the main memory sometimes stops the
refresh for a long time, which corrupts the RAM disk data.
5. Action:
The cache presetting in the ROM or the driver has been changed as follows:
CPU ADDRESS 0A0000H~0DFFFFH: CACHE OFF AREA
CPU ADDRESS 000000H~001000H: CACHE OFF AREA
OTHER CPU ADDRESSES: CACHE ON AREA
1) The changed BIOS ROM has changed the ROM version as follows.

2) A change to the driver has made, the latest versions are as follows.
POSIOF.SYS V1.04
POSIOT.SYS V1.17

(1) Use the latest driver (POSIOF.SYS V1.04 or POSIOT.SYS V1.17).
(The drivers later than POSIOF.SYS V1.04 or POSIOT.SYS V1.17 will have the improved
cache incorporated.)
Exchange the ROM for one of the above new versions at repair, or exchange of the main
PWB.
