This manual should be used to help you to set up and maintain the files and parameters required to run your
Sharp UP Series Terminals efficiently and easily.

There are two Main Menu options; each one displaying a second level menu.  Each function from the second
menu is documented in turn.  The menu name of the function is shown on the header of each page followed by
the access route from the Main Menu.  Below this is an overview; a description of what will happen as you
progress through the function.  The overview will also give details of how this particular function will affect
the terminal operation, or perhaps which other System Maintenance function you should use next.

Any input fields are shown below the overview with an emboldened field description followed by a colon (:).
This is followed by instructions on what to enter and what will happen.  Generally, a screen example will be
illustrated for each menu function.

Sometimes other keys should be pressed to continue with the function, for example, END, up and down arrow
keys. 

Some pages of the manual contain useful notes about the function or the field.  These are shown with
a border line around the paragraph.

The following control keys are available during the maintenance of files:-

The ESC key can be used to exit from the current function without updating the files.  This key
is also used to cancel the information currently being created or amended on the system.

To enable the number pad (on the left-hand side of the keyboard) to be used.

To ensure that all alphabetic characters are entered onto the system as capital letters.

The END key is used throughout the system to accept information which has been changed or
added and then update the files.  The END key is also used to exit a function and display the
menu from which it was selected, or return to the previous menu.

To move the cursor up or down one line at a time.  The left or right arrows move the cursor
within a field, or from field to field across a line.

PAGE UP/DOWN To display the next or previous screen of information, if it exceeds one page.

The SPACEBAR on a PC keyboard, or the SPACE key on the overlay terminal keyboard is
used to toggle between available selections for a particular field.

Generally, the keys you need to use are described throughout the manual.  It should be noted that there
are some validity checks built into the system, but it is up to the user to enter correct and consistent
information.

There are two maintenance options; File Maintenance and System Configuration.

The File Maintenance option displays a menu showing functions which maintain the products and servers
offered for use in the system.

The System Configuration option displays a menu showing the functions which configure the terminal system
for operation.  The third option on the menu is used to exit from the System Maintenance Menu.

User:  Enter your server number.  The server name is displayed.

Password:  Enter your three digit password code.  The entry will show as asterisks on the operator display.
The System Maintenance Menu is displayed.

To Enter the Program Function press Alt & F10 on the PC keyboard, this will drop the machine into DOS.
Then type FM and Enter. The machine will then enter File Maintenence.

When the System Maintenance Menu is displayed, use the up and down arrow keys to move the highlight bar
to File Maintenance and press ENTER.  Alternatively, you can select a function by pressing the number beside
the File Maintenance option.

The following options are available on the File Maintenance Menu :-

To set up and maintain the products and prices you want to register at the terminals.

To allocate the key positions of all the keys you want to use on each terminal keyboard.  Up to
ninety nine keyboard screen layouts may be specified.

Macro keys can be set up to enable the user to press one key on each terminal keyboard instead
of several key depressions to perform a task.

To set up and maintain the product keys you want to use as fast entry keys on each terminal
keyboard.

To set up and maintain the product or function list information you want to use on each terminal
keyboard.

To set up group numbers for classifying products.

To set up department numbers for classifying products.

To set up and maintain the server numbers for all personnel that may wish to use the terminals.

To set up and maintain the table numbers and descriptions for the site.

To set up and maintain the barcodes you want to use to register sales of products on each
terminal.

When the System Maintenance Menu is displayed, use the up and down arrow keys to move the highlight bar
to System Configuration and press ENTER.  Alternatively, you can select a function by pressing the number
beside the System Configuration option.

The following options are available on the System Configuration Menu :-

To set up the modifier keys for items that you want to register in non-standard quantities.

The payment methods you require may be set up and maintained using this function.

To set up the terminal controls for the keyboard functions.

To set up and maintain the "Happy Hour" parameters or special price promotions.

Printer ConfigurationTo set up and maintain the printers available for each terminal in the network.

To set up and maintain the essential parameters for each terminal on the site.

To set up and maintain the system parameters.

To set up and maintain mix and match promotional offers to be implemented on each
terminal.

To set up and maintain the exchange rates of currencies you want to accept as cash payments
at each terminal.

When reference is made to "Printing the Details", the printing takes place on a parrallel 80 Column Printer, and
NOT an RS232 device.
