CD OPTICAL PICKUP LENS CLEANING
When the CD does not function
When the CD section does not operate when the objective lens of the optical pickup is dirty, this section may not operate. Clean
the objective lens, and check the playback operation. When this section does not operate even after the above step is taken, check
the following items.
"Track skipping and/or no TOC (Table Of Contents) may be caused by build up of dust other foreign matter on the laser pickup
lens. Before attempting any adjustment make certain that the lens is clean. If not, clean it as mentioned below."
Turn off the power, and wipe the lens softly using a cleaning paper moistened with commercially available cleaning solution so
as not to damage it. (Be careful that a solution doesn't drip.)
Be careful not to touch the lens with bare hands.
Preparations
If dusts and foreign materials are accumulated on the pickup lens, playback sounds can be skipped or the TOC (Table of Contents)
can't be displayed. Clean the object lens and check the playback. When lens are dirty, do the following.
Turn off the power and wipe lens softly with a cleaning paper and a little cleaning solution so as not to damage it.
 (Be careful that a solution doesn't drip.) Do not touch lens with bare hands.
If the CD unit doesn't work
If objective lens for optical pickup is contaminated, CD may not operate.  First, clean the objective lens.  Then check reproducing
operation. If CD still does not operate, check according to the following check sheet.
TROUBLESHOOTING
Set the disc, power ON, and press the CD (STOP) button. Is the voltage of + 7.0 V applied to the C790 plus side, and + 3.3 V, to the C793 plus
side, respectively?  Is the voltage of 5.0 V applied to ZD701 cathode?
Is the voltage applied as specified in the wiring diagram?
Does the laser light up in CD test mode 1?

Does CD test mode proceed from 1 to 2?
Does the disc motor rotate normally when changing CD test
from 2 to 3?
Is output of IC701 Pin 19 (HF) flat in CD test mode 4?
