2. 3. How to check the lamp runtime
The WARNING indicator will light in red when the lamp runtime (corresponding value) reaches 20 000 hours.
This is to indicate that lamp replacement is required. The lamp runtime is calculated by using the below formula.
The displayed time in [Lamp counter] = "Lamp runtime of [    (Normal)]" × 2 +"Lamp runtime of [      (Eco)]"
                                                                  + "Lamp runtime of [    (Quiet)]" × 2
When [Lamp control] is constantly set to [   (Normal)] without switching to other modes = 10 000 hours
When [Lamp control] is constantly set to [   (Eco)] without switching to other modes = 20 000 hours
When [Lamp control] is constantly set to [   (Quiet)] without switching to other modes = 10 000 hours
Follow the procedure below to check the lamp runtime:
1.   Press and hold the
v/b> button on the projector or the remote control for more than 20 seconds.
2.  The projector runtime and lamp runtime will be displayed on the screen briefly as follows.
Total used time
Projector used time
Cumulative lamp
runtime in each
mode
*In this picture, "Eco1" and "Eco2" refer to "Eco" and "Quiet" respectively.

2. 4. Cleaning
Cleaning with air spray
1.  Remove the cabinet top according to SECTION 2 "Mechanical Disassembly".
2.  Clean up the Optical block and polarizing plate by using the air spray from the cabinet top opening.
Caution:
Use a commercial (inert gas) air spray designed for cleaning camera and computer equipment. Use a resin-based nozzle only.
Be very careful not to damage optical parts with the nozzle tip. Never use too much cleanser on the unit. Never use abrasive
cleaner, solvent or other rough chemical that may scratch the cabinet surface.
Disassembly cleaning
Disassembly cleaning method should only be performed when the unit is considerable dirty and cannot be sufficiently cleaned
by air spraying alone.
Be sure to readjust the optical system after performing disassembly cleaning.
1. Remove the cabinet top and main unit following to "Mechanical Disassembly".
2. If the Optical block needs cleaning, remove the Optical block unit following to "Optical block replacement".
3. Clean the optical parts with a soft cloth. Clean extremely dirty areas using a cloth moistened with alcohol.
Caution:
The surface of the optical parts consist of multiple dielectric layers with varying degrees of refraction.
Never use organic solvents (thinner, etc.) or any kind of cleanser on these parts.
Since the optical block is equipped with an electronic circuit, never use any liquids (water, etc.) to clean the unit.
Use of liquid may cause the unit to malfunction.
2. 4.1. Cleaning the projection lens
Unplug the AC power cord before cleaning.
Gently wipe the projection lens with a cleaning cloth that contains a small
amount of non-abrasive camera lens cleaner, or use a lens cleaning paper or
commercially available air blower to clean the lens.
Avoid using an excessive amount of cleaner. Abrasive cleaners, solvents or
other harsh chemicals might scratch the surface of the cabinet.
2. 4. 2. Cleaning the projector cabinet
Unplug the AC power cord before cleaning.
Gently wipe the projection body with a soft dry cleaning cloth. When the
cabinet is heavily soiled, use a small amount of mild detergent and finish
with a soft dry cleaning cloth. Avoid using an excessive amount of cleaner.
Abrasive cleaners, solvents or other harsh chemicals might scratch the
surface of the cabinet.
When the projector is not in use, put the projector in an appropriate carrying
case to protect it from dust and scratches.
After long periods of use, dust and other particles will accumulate on the optical block, prism, mirror, polarized glass, lens,
etc., Causing the picture to darken or color to blur. If this occurs, clean the inside of the Lighting block. Remove dust and
other particles using air spray. If dirt cannot be removed by air spray, disassemble and clean the Lighting block.

3. Notes on service
3. 1. Before service operation
 3. 1. 1. LCD panel
1.  The display unit of this projector comprises three LCD panels. Although an LCD panel is a product of high-precision
technology, some of the pixels on the image may be missing or constantly lit. Please note that this is not a failure.
2.  Displaying a still image for a longer time may result in an after-image on the LCD panels. If this happens, display the all
white screen in the test pattern for an hour or more.
 3. 1. 2. Lamp
1. The light source of the projector is a high-pressure mercury lamp.
2. A high-pressure mercury lamp has the following characteristics.
  • The luminance of the lamp will decrease by duration of usage.
  • The lamp may burst with a loud sound or have its service life shortened because of shock, chipping, or degradation due to
     cumulative runtime.
  • The lamp life varies greatly depending on individual differences and usage conditions. In particular, continuous use for 12
hours or more and frequent switching off/on of the power greatly deteriorate the lamp and affects the lamp life.
  •  In rare cases, the lamps burst shortly after projection starts.
  • The risk of bursting increases when the lamp is used beyond its replacement cycle. Make sure to replace the lamp unit
consistently. (Refer to items “When to replace the lamp unit”, “How to replace the lamp unit”)
  • If the lamp bursts, gas contained inside of the lamp is released in the form of smoke.
  • It is recommended that you store the Replacement Lamp Unit as a contingency.

[Attention]  *  Panasonic takes no responsibility for any damage or malfunction of the
product resulting from use of lamp units which are not manufactured by
Panasonic. Use only specified lamp units.
[Note]
*   Please be sure to read the warnings and notices on the lamp that is
described in the Operating Instructions. "Read this first!", "Precautions for
use", "Maintenance/replacement".
 3. 1. 3. Air filter unit
1.  Make sure that the air filter unit is properly attached before using the projector. If it is
not properly attached, the projector will suck in dirt and dust causing a malfunction.
2.  Air filter replacement is recommended after cleaning the unit two times. The dust-
proof properties may be reduced after each cleaning.
3.  The cleaning and replacement cycle of the air filter unit varies depending on the usage
environment.

- P.C.Board [Specified components are replaced except
                  A board(MAIN board) and P board(power board)]

- Iris unit
Replaced by discrete components
Other electrical parts and mechanism parts
 3. 2. 2. Repair
1.  Since very strong light is leakage from the surroundings of optical block, when checking or adjusting the projector with top
cabinet removal, wear the UV protection glasses to protect the UV light.
2. Before repairing, make sure to turn off the main power and disconnect the power plug from the power outlet.
  *  When replacing the print board, the internal electrical parts can be broken by the static electricity of clothes or human
body. Please take care in static electricity, use an antistatic wrist strap or wear the anti-static electricity gloves.
3. After repairing, please check the gradation (10 step or the gray scale) test pattern or moving image.
Also, please check that it is normal on a self check screen.
 3. 2. 3. Interlock detection
The lamp cover switch detects whether the lamp cover is mounted securely.
When the lamp cover is mounted securely, the interlock switch on the [A]-P.C.Board turns on.
 3. 2. 4. Replacement of A-P.C. board
1.  When the replacement of [A]-P.C.Board (assembly) is needed, back up the memory information such as adjustment data
from the old board to PC with the service software. Then transfer this data to the new [A]-P.C.Board.
For more information refer to the SECTION 3 "Adjustment".
