INDEPENDENT REMOTE
CONTROL
The keys on the remote control unit
function the same as the corresponding
buttons on the amplifier itself.
The remote control unit also includes
many keys that allow for easy control of
compatible Harman/Kardon cassette
tape deck, CD player and turner.
Please refer to the owner's manual for
each unit for operating instructions.
Some of these units must be connected
to the amplifier's remote control output
jacks so that the system remote control
can operate them.
OPERATING CONDITIONS
The control unit operates effectively
within a distance of 7 meters and an
angle of 30° from the amplifier. Using the
control near fluroscent lights may
shorten this range, as will any dust or dirt
that accumulates on the front of the
remote control, or the remote sensor
area of the amplifier. Also avoid blocking
the line of sight between amplifier and
remote.
The control unit is powered by two AA
batteries, included with your amplifier.
When you replace weak batteries,
replace both at the same time. When the
remote is to be unused for an extended
period, remove the batteries to prevent
damage from corrosion.

the amplifier. The power indicator
lights up.

corresponding to the component you
wish to listen to.

MAKING A RECORDING
You can record the selected source onto
a tape recorder connected to the rear
panel tape outputs. If you are using a
three-head tape deck with tape monitor
function, you can choose whether you
wish to listen to the source or to the tape
while it is being recorded. To listen to the
tape, simply press T-Mon on the front of
the HK630. This allows you to check that
the recording is correct and not
overloaded, etc.
In order to listen to the tape, you must
also make sure that Tape Monitor is
selected on the tape deck, not Source or
Input.
Please note that the signal sent to the
tape recorder is taken directly from the
source component and is not affected by
the position of the volume, bass, treble
or balance controls. Adjusting these
controls will have no influence on the
recording.
PRE OUT/MAIN IN
Your Harman/Kardon integrated amplifier
is equipped with separate outputs from
the preamplifier section marked Pre Out
on the rear panel and separate inputs to
the  power amplifier section marked
Main In on the rear panel. In normal use,
the Left Pre Out socket must be
connected directly to the Left Main In
socket and the Right Pre Out socket
must be connected directly to the Right
Main In socket via the short
interconnects included with the unit.
For more advanced use, the Pre
Out/Main In sockets may be used to
insert equalizers or other processors into
the signal path. They can also be used to
feed an external power amplifier with the
signal from the preamplifier section or to
feed the power amplifier section with the
signal from an external source.
Consult your Harman/Kardon dealer for
additional information.
