 Models:  AVR70, AVR70II, AVR80, AVR80II 
 
 Subject:  Unit switches to standby mode after five minutes 
 

 

 
In the event you receive an AVR70 or AVR80 with the complaint “unit shuts down after five minutes 
when TV source is selected”, perform (or have the customer perform) the necessary steps listed 
below: 
 
PROCEDURE TO DEFEAT (CHANGE) THE TV AUTO FUNCTION:  
 
1) 

Turn on the power switch, light should cycle to green. (Note: if the unit has recently shut down due to 
complaint, turn unit back ON by pressing any one of the source selector buttons). 

 
2) 

While first depressing the MEMO button on the front panel, simultaneously press AND HOLD the TV 
button (source selector) on the front panel for four seconds until the display changes; the display will 
read TV AT ON  (factory preset).* 

 
The display will remain that way for four seconds. 
 
3) 

TO CHANGE, release both buttons while TV AT ON is being  displayed and press the TV button once 
to change the function (to OFF); each press will toggle the status between ON and OFF. 

 
Procedure is completed. 
 
 
 
 
 
 
*  In the event you have followed the steps correctly and TV AT ON will not show on the display, it may be 
necessary to unplug the unit’s power cord from the wall outlet to reset it.  Then plug the unit back in, press the 
power button back ON and follow steps 2 & 3.
