Cautions about Humidity and Dew Condensation
About Humidity and Dew Condensation
The humidity range for an installation of Commercial Monitors (IDP) – 20% to 80% (no condensation).
Dew condensation and / or liquid drops will cause a breakdown of the circuit and / or the LCD
panel (Example on the right)
An environment that has a high possibility of condensation
This is an installation where the air flow is frequently warm, and where temperature is generally
low.
Example – The place in front of vents of radiators. When the radiator is turned on in a cold
winter morning, condensation occurs.
An environment that has a high possibility of liquid drops
“Semi-outdoor” place where strong winded-rain could potentially reach the monitor.
An installation that is below pipes inside a ceiling. If the pipes have a leaking problem, there is a
possibility for water drops to enter the monitor through the vents.
If place in front of a window, ensure the window is sealed and that water cannot enter the environment.

Other Precautions
About Vibration
Commercial Monitors (IDP) are not designed to be used in environments that suffer from vibration.
Example – When used inside a motor vehicle or railway station platforms.
If Commercial Monitors (IDP) are going to be used in places that suffer from vibrations, the installation of shock absorbers, etc, must
be considered.
About Inclination
The limitation of the inclination angle is between 0 to 20 degrees downward. When the product is used at an inclination angle beyond
this range, Sharp cannot support the quality or safety of the product. For more information, check the products operation manual.
About Residual Images
Technically, LCD panels do not have “burn-in” problems as visible on CRT or PDP products. However, if a static image is being displayed
for a long period, residual images may occur. This is not a fault of the product.
There are 2 solutions to remove residual images (The screen has to be put through either process for the length of time the static
image was displayed on the screen):
1.
Displaying motion images
2.
Turning off the monitor
However, the longer the period that the still image is displayed, the harder it becomes to remove the residual image.
Therefore, the solutions mentioned should be taken periodically to stop this effect.
If you are planning on installing the product where a permanent static image is visible (I.E. Production line, etc), Sharp recommend you
implement the following on each screen:
1.
Enter the function menu (Hold “SIZE” button down for 5 seconds until “F” appears, press UP, RIGHT, DOWN, LEFT)
2.
Highlight the option “LED”
3.
Press the “SIZE” button for 5 seconds until “CUSTOM SETTINGS” appears
DO NOT ADJUST ANY OTHER MENU OPTIONS OTHER THAN AS DIRECTED BELOW
4.
Highlight and then turn “ON” the “SCREEN MOTION FUNCTION”, then press “MENU” to exit

Other Preparation
Power Supply and Voltage
Commercial Monitors (IDP) are designed to use the electricity supplied by the National Grid.
Electricity generated by other sources should not be used. Example – Domestic solar panels, etc.
If connecting to a phase switching system (I.E. switches to phase 1 from 8pm to 8am, phase 2 from 8am to 8pm), please allow adequate
time for the unit to restart due to a power interruption (Unit has detected a power interruption through the “AC Detect Circuit”).
If you do not want the screens to restart at each power interruption, consider installing a UPS.
Thermal Expansion
If acrylic or polica is used as a material for the protection panel, thermal and / or humidity expansion must be considered.
When the acrylic resin absorbs humidity, it will expand by 0.4% at the longest point.
Example – For a 60” Commercial Monitor (IDP) it will expand by approximately 6mm
When a protection panel is being installed, the distortion caused by the described expansions must be considered.
RS232C and LAN
Power on / off and various other controls can be done automatically via a PC by connecting the RS-232C / LAN cable.
RS-232C / LAN is necessary for the maintenance of the monitor. Sharp recommends that when Commercial Monitors (IDP) are being
placed at high to reach places or in places that are hard to connect cables; you should connect the RS-232C / LAN cable in advance.
Cables
When a Commercial Monitor (IDP) is connected to an analog input, the image quality might be affected by the type of video card or
by the cable. When a high quality image is required, Sharp recommend using the DVI input.
When optical fibre is being used to create an extension, it is possible that EDID data cannot be recognised correctly. If the EDID data
cannot be recognised correctly, images will not be displayed correctly. Sharp recommend that you carry out an advanced test of the
cable when using optical fibre.

Peripherals
When connecting peripherals such as a PC, Blu-ray / DVD player, distribution amplifier, image switching device, etc, Sharp recommend
that you carry out advanced tests of the peripherals to ensure product compatibility, optimum resolution and image quality.
Sharp recommend that all cables and peripherals are tested first before you start installation.
